PCMSA elections

Moga, January 4, 2016 : First after 25 years, the doctors from across the state have democratically united under a single banner of Punjab Civil Medical Services Association (PCMSA) to fight for their rights and have intensified the struggle.

The delegates from across all the districts of Punjab while electing the state body of the Association, elected Dr Gagandeep Singh Moga as state president while Nishan Singh Mansa was elected as General Secretary of the state body.

In a press statement released here on Monday, newly elected state press secretary Raj Kumar Badhan informed that Dr Gagandeep Singh Shergill has been elected Senior Vice President, Dr Indervir Singh Gill as Organising secretary, Dr Jatinder Singh Pannu as finance secretary, Dr Sukhdeep Singh Bhagowalia as additional press secretary.

Divulging the details, Dr Gagandeep Singh Moga said that the district bodies in all the districts were elected during last seven months and the district bodies from all the districts participated in the state elections as delegates.

“The elections during last 25 years were just a formality and the state bodies under various names were active. It is first time after 25 years that a single state body is elected democratically”, said chief pattern of the PCMSA Dr Ranjit Singh Butter.

It is pertinent to mention here that the doctors have been fighting for the rights of the doctors including the demand of full scale on the place of only basic pay for newly recruited doctors, demands of specialist doctors, restoration of Non-practice allowance (NPA) to undergoing PG, cadre review of fewer posts of doctors, filling the vacant posts of doctors. With the united forum of the doctors, the doctors may intensify their stir for their demands. Doctors were also fighting for the security and safety of the doctors on emergency duty.
