127 stolen mobile phones recovered, returned to owners
Ferozepur, July 29, 2021: Senior Superintendent of Police, Bhagirath Meena handed over 127 mobile phones, to the rightful owners here on Thursday, after the Cyber Crime Wing police recovered the communication gadgets.
A phone is not just a physical possession; people’s sentiments are linked to them. To avoid the misuse of phones by the anti-social elements on stealing the phones, it is better not to store in the phones their personal photographs, bank account details, credit/debit card details etc.
Earlier also, 103 mobile phones against 142 complaints were recovered and handed over the owners on March 16 last.
Appreciating the team led by Gurdev Singh Inspector, Cyber Crime Wing, SSP said, based on the complaints received in all the police stations of the district, the Technical Wing of Cyber Crime Wing police, led by Gurdev Singh Inspector recovered the phones with the help of the IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) numbers.
He said, from the Day-1 of my joining in January, it was my one of the motive to adopt zero tolerance policy against drugs and to get the stolen mobiles traced and returned to the owners.
SSP said, today against the 185 complaints, 127 mobiles have been traced and handed over to the owners by contacting them and checking the ownership documents.
Mohinder Singh one of the victim of stolen mobile, who surprised to get a call to collect the mobile appreciated the efforts of the police. He never thought he would get back his phone after registration of the complaint, after he had lost it.
In rural and urban areas of Ferozepur, the police is keeping a cat eye on the mischievous, anti-social elements and unscrupulous persons through patrolling by the cops on motorcycles and the remaining mobiles will also be traced shortly, he added. SSP also appealed to the people to share any information or unwanted activity on phone or by contacting personally.
