Mobile recovered from jail inmate poses security threat

Ferozepur, April 23, 2021:  One mobile smuggled in jail premises, was recovered from the prisoner under trial, on a tip-off, on Thursday.

Frequent recoveries of banned items, including the mobiles in the past has posed a threat to security arrangements.  Smuggling in of mobiles from the entry points and by throwing from the high walls and its usage by the inmates has lost the purpose of keeping the prisoners away from the social contacts as a punishment.

Divulging with details, Gurtej Singh, Assistant Superintendent said, working on a tip-received, a search operation was carried out and one mobile of Samsung keypad with battery and SIM card was recovered from prisoner under trial identified as Vikram Singh.  Meanwhile a case under 52-A Prisons Act has been registered with appointment of IO Sukdev Singh to further investigate the matter, with special focus on its usage.
