Ferozepur, December 21, 2022:  The Ferozepur police got success with the arrest of 3-cross border smugglers along with recovery of heroin and ammunition involved in the business of heroin smuggling by arranging through drones from across the border.

Speaking to the media persons, Kanwardeep Kaur, SSP said, on Tuesday, the CIA team headed by Mangal Inspector got a team while patrolling near Bazidpur gurudwara that Gurmanpreet Singh of Mahatma Nagar in Fazilka Lovepreet Singh of Bhinder Kalan Dharamot, Moga and Vansh Gandhi Nagar, Ferozepur are doing heroin smuggling at a large scale and also own illegal weapons and the same has been kept at the resident of Luvpreet Singh alias Luv at Smart City-3.

We have formed special teams in the district, who are working actively in their areas against the unscrupulous and anti-social elements. Working swiftly on this tip-off, a raid was conducted with recovery of 2 kg heroin, Rs.25.05 lac drug money, one pistol with magazine and 12 rounds, one pistol 30 bore with magazine and 7 round and one i-20 vehicle  PB-05-DF-5300 and one note counting machine.A case under Sections 21, 61, 85 of NDPS Act and 25, 54,59 Arms Act has been registered at police station, Kulgarhi, said SSP.

SSP said, these three accused were selling heroin by arranging the consignments from cross border smugglers via drones by talking on phone on over-the-top (OTT) platforms, by deciding the location, as per the usual modus operandi.  They have been arrested based on our pin-point information.  We will trace the backward and forward links and nab the remaining persons involved in this activity.

She further said, the Punjab police has made heavy deployment on the border for proper check, due to dense fog, at vital points where there are chances of smuggling. Due to heavy deployment, the drone movement on the border has reduced.  These accused are of young profile, two from Fazilka and one from Ferozepur,  had earlier also arranged the drug consignment.  So far as the back history is concerned, the two accused Gurmanpreet Singh and Luvpreet Singh are already facing a case under NDPS Act at Sri Karanpur in Rajasthan.
