2076 gets treatment at Drug De-Addiction Centre in Ferozepur under Mission Health Punjab

Ferozepur, October 25, 2018:  With a motive to tackle the menace of drug addiction and let the youths get rid of the habit of addiction so that they are not victimized, during the period of June 2018 to September 2018, in all 2076 Drug De-Addiction Centre in Ferozepur under Mission Health Punjab.  Out of this, 1169 drug-addicts got treatment from OPD while 156 as in-door patients at Drug De-Addiction Centre and  715 under OAT Clinics.

Giving this information, Balwinder Singh Dhaliwal, Deputy Commissioner, Ferozepur said the drug addicts are being given counseling at these centres and have returned to their normal life in the society.

He said in the present era, addiction is one of the serious issues now a day and the menace needs to be handled carefully as its solution is hot limited to medical intervention only.  The individual concerned, his family, friends, the society the government and the legal system all have to work in tandem to tackle this menace.

 Under Mission Tandrust Punjab, the work on war-footing is going on to curb this social evil and save the environment.  It becomes our moral responsibility to get admitted the drug addict at the centre to take him out of this problem where expert doctors are providing treatment to them under their strict supervision, he added.

Dr.Rachna Mittal, Incharge Drug De-addiction Centre said the centre at Makhu Gate along with OAT Clinic is working successfully.  At this centre, the youths are given counselling to keep themselves away from the addiction of drugs by putting them wiser about the side-effects of addiction.
