Ferozepur, July 15, 2022: Reeling under the scorching heat for over the past month, the city residents were a relieved lot as they woke up to a cloudy sky and cool breeze. Besides, a substantial drop in the temperature was witnessed in the city.

Ferozepur got a respite from the scorching heat with raining for the last two days, after 10 days,  as the mercury in city dipped below the 24 degree Celsius mark and clouds gathered in the sky, for the first time this month. The maximum temperature in the city was witnessed up to 47 degree Celsius plus even.

The decrease in heatwave conditions was welcomed by all, but were feeling sad over the blockage of sewerage

Weather office had earlier predicted heat wave conditions in the past and will persist for few days.

It was after a long time that no need of air-conditioners was felt during the daytime,” said Anita Sikri, Asha Bajaj, a city residents. She said she had even stopped going out on her morning walks due to excessive heat in the evenings.

A heat wave is declared when the maximum temperature is over 40 degrees Celsius and at least 4.5 notches above normal. A severe heat wave is declared if the departure from the normal temperature is by more than 6.4 notches, according to the IMD.

However, the kids – – Aarav Sethi, Bhavin, Aditya – were seen enjoying cycling during rain.

The dry weather had been causing trouble to people, for the past few days. The pleasant weather resulted will now witness a rush of people at the marketplaces and parks in the evening and will get relief from dry cough and difficulty in breathing caused by dust particles present in the air, said Ashok Behal, Secretary, Red Cross Society, Ferozepur.
