Plans for World Waking Tour in 5 years

Ferozepur, November 9, 2023:  To create awareness among the people, Rohit Aggarwal – a B.Com student from Nagpur (Madhya Pradesh), who is on a World Walking Tour, was given a warm welcome at Lions Club, on reaching Ferozepur after travelling around 21000 km.

Welcoming and appreciating Rohit Aggarwal for his initiative at a young age, Lion Satpal Sethi, President, Ashish Sharma, Zone Chairman, Rajinder Duggal, Treasurer and Gagan Aggarwal, Secretary honoured Rohit Aggarwal with a token of gift.

Speaking to the members of the club, Rohit Aggarwal said, he had already travelled around 21,000 km after covering 28 states and union territories besides Nepal and Bangladesh during a period of three years at the age of 18 and now he is 21.  I started this journey from Varanasi after having a holy bath at Ganga and in the coming five years he will be completing his World Walking Tour.

He said, my main objective in starting this journey is to create awareness about plastic and its dangerous effects and to convey a message of unity in diversity.  I have visited many schools and institutions to convey my message about the environment.  During my tour, I will also walk to Oymyakon in Siberia where the temperature is -72 degrees and the coldest place on planet Earth and I will be the first South Asian to reach there from India by land.  On the way to Siberia, I will cross 20 countries of South Asia in another 5 years.

Expressing his concern about the environment, which is known to everyone, he said it cannot be controlled alone by the government or by the individual.  Unless and until people have a love for the environment, it cannot be controlled. He appealed to the people to say no to plastic.

On asking about his studies, he said, he is also pursuing his B.Com (Final) through correspondence and would continue with his higher studies simultaneously and thankful to the Lions Clubs and various NGOs for supporting me in my dream.
