Ferozepur, December 9, 2023: National Lok Adalat was established today in all India as per the guidelines of National Legal Services Authority Delhi.  According to these guidelines, Justice Gurmeet Singh Sandhawalia, Judge Punjab and Haryana High Court along with Executive Chairman, Punjab State Legal Services Authority, Mohali following the guidelines of Virinder Agarwal, District and Sessions Ferozepur,  National Lok Adalat was organized by Ekta Uppal, Chief Judicial Magistrate-cum-Secretary District Legal Services Authority, Ferozepur in the courts of this district. In all, total 29 benches were formed in Ferozepur district, including 12 benches in the courts of Session Division, Ferozepur, permanent Lok Adalat, 3 benches  at Zira and 2 benches at Guruharshai.  Apart from this,   at the Consumer Court and 10 Revenue Court Benches were also set-up.  A total of 17,745 cases were filed in this Lok Adalat, out of which 12,767 cases were settled and the settled cases are 72% of the total cases.  Out of the disposed cases, 2,088 cases are pending before the courts.  Thus, through this Lok Adalat, the list of pending cases of District Ferozepur Courts has decreased and a total of Rs.46,38,14,696/- awards have been passed in this National Lok Adalat.  Various types of cases such as civil cases, cognizable criminal cases, check bounces, recovery cases, traffic challan and domestic dispute cases, motor accident claim tribunal cases and pre-litigation cases are heard in this Lok Adalat including the cases of Bank Recovery Private Finance Company, Mobile and Telephone Company cases were settled with mutual consent of the parties.

A help desk has also been set up at the public entry gate of the District Court Complex, Ferozepur by the District Legal Services Authority, Ferozepur for the assistance and inquiries of the people coming to the Lok Adalat to facilitate the people.
Speaking on this occasion, Ekta Uppal, Chief Judicial Magistrate-cum-Secretary, District Legal Services Authority said that there is no appeal argument for the cases decided in Lok Adalat.  The judgment passed in the Lok Adalat is recognized as a decree and these judgments are satisfactory and the parties get relief from litigation and many other mental troubles.  Both sides feel victorious and neither side is defeated.
