Ferozepur, April 22, 2015 : Naresh Kadyan, Convener, Animal Welfare Party and Chairman People for Animals (PFA) Haryana through an email this correspondent has informed for the registration of his grievances with the Minister of Water Resources GoI and Delhi Chief Minister
Kadyan has stated that after the enactment of the Right to Food, Right to Information, Right to Education and Right to Service legislations in the recent years, a demand for Right to Water Act has been raised in the state by the Kadyan Khap International through its Convener. Naresh Kadian, Convener of Animal Welfare Party.
Kadyan Khap International, has maintained that water is a basic necessity of life but a considerable section of the population still remains deprived of clean and safe drinking water. Provision of pure drinking water should be a right of the people and responsibility of the government.
He further asserted that now that when we already have a Right to Food Act, there is a need to formulate Right to Water Act in the larger public interest.
Miss Sukanya Kadian, Honorary Animal Welfare Officer, AWBI, has also pointed out that due to the presence of heavy metals like uranium, lead, mercury, chromium, arsenic and nickel, as well as pesticides and harmful microbes in water, cancer and other deadly diseases had gripped not only Punjab but also Haryana, Himachal and Delhi.
It would also be pertinent to mention here that many areas of Indian Territory don&#39t have proper drinking water for human beings, animals as well; besides it land cultivation also needs water for irrigation and cultivation of crops, grains and vegetables.
Thus there is a dire need for the enactment of Right to Water, she added.
