Ferozepur, February 25, 2025: The much-awaited 100-bed satellite centre of PGI was laid the virtual foundation stone by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Feb 25, from Rajkot, Gujarat. The project is with a budget of Rs 490.54 crore, the centre at Ferozpur is planned to house 100 indoor beds. This includes 30 intensive care and high-dependency beds. It is planned to house 10 clinical speciality departments and five other supporting departments. It will also house minor and major operation theatres.
Earlier, the Congress was getting its credit as it was announced during their tenure. It was announced by the UPA government headed by Manmohan Singh as Prime Minister but with the inauguration by PM Modi, ending the credit war of its claim. Moreover, apart from PGI staff, the BJP leaders and workers were seen at the virtual inauguration ceremony at the site of the PGI Satellite Centre in Ferozepur after a delay of almost 10 years.
The highlights of the virtual inauguration ceremony were –-Media persons not having yellow and pink cards from the Public Relations Department were not allowed entry at the event, -PM Modi did not mention the name of Ferozepur during the virtual event, -PM spoke in Gujrati which the Punjabi could not understand and – the Punjabi version in foundation stone laid at the site finds at third place as Hindi, English and Punjabi.
