Vigilant jail staff recovers 7 mobiles, data cable, intoxicant powder from three inmates
Ferozepur, September 22, 2021: During the checking of jail premises on in-put, the vigilant staff recovered 7 mobiles, data cable and intoxicant powder from three under trial prisoners. During the year, 192 mobiles have been recovered, including today’s recovery.
With the frequent recovery of mobiles from inside jail, the purpose of keeping the inmates away from the outer world as punishment is lost. The mobiles provide inmates the ability to make and receive unauthorized phone calls, send email and text messages, use social media and follow news pertaining to their case among other forbidden uses.
Darshan Singh Assistant Superintendent along with jail staff conducted the checking and found intoxicant powder around 3 gm was recovered from Joginder Singh inmate. While five mobiles were recovered from Amrik Singh under trial prisoners with battery and SIM cards, two mobiles from Harjit Singh with battery and SIM cards and one data cable.
A case under section 52-A Prisons Act has been registered with the appointment of Balraj Singh as IO and further investigations are on.
