Unpaid for 3 months, SBS Tech Campus staff struggling to survive, submit memorandum to Director
Ferozepur, November 6, 2020: The Punjab government has not yet given additional funds to the Shaheed Bhagat Singh State Technical Campus, Ferozepur with a result, the teaching and non-teaching staff have not been paid the salaries for the last three months.
No doubt the lockdown due to the Covid-19 pandemic has hit the country’s economy hard and Punjab is no exception but this impact on state treasurer has translated into a struggle for survival of employees of SBS State Technical Campus and has not been paid salaries for the last three months.
The wife of one of the employees Rajesh Kumar said, our family being single earning hands are struggling to make ends meet. The government should seriously think it over and at least the wages should be given to the employees regularly on a monthly basis so that we could not the houses otherwise there will be a lot of difficulties in the times to come. This story is similar to the number of families on the campus. She added, the government should at least keep reserve the funds for the wages to its employees by keeping the special provisions in the budget to avoid such situations.
A deputation of the employees also submitted a memorandum to the Director Campus led by Dr.Sanjiv Dewra, Associate Professor, Dr.Rajiv Arora and Dr.Rajni, Gurpreet Singh, Devinder Kumar. It states that the employees will be wearing black badges in protest, gate rallies will be held if the salaries are not paid by November 13, besides suspending, all academic and office activities except ongoing reappear exams from 16.11.2020 onwards holding the management responsible for the consequences.
SBSSTC Director, Dr.T.S.Sidhu said we have taken up the matter with the concerned authorities of the Punjab government and Minister and waiting for additional funds. Once this comes, the salaries will be disbursed to the employees.
