Under Aspirational Disticts Programme of NITI Aayog, Ferozepur gets Rs.7crore
Ferozepur, December 21, 2020: Under Aspirational Districts Programme of NITI Aayog, the border district of Ferozepur has been given additional grant of Rs.7crore for development schemes.
Ferozepur district had secured good ranking in overall delta to become entitled for additional allocataion of Rs.7 crores.
The NITI Aayog is a policy think tank of the Government of India, established with the aim to achieve sustainable development goals with cooperative federalism by fostering the involvement of State Governments of India in the economic policy-making process using a bottom-up approach.Amitabh Kant, CEO, National Institution for Transforming India – NITI had asked to prepare a Plan of Action/Project Proposal in consultation with the State and Central Prabhari Officers for final approval by Januanry 15, 2021. Ferozepur has been identified on the basis of its performance in the months of September-October 2020 and ranked first amongst 112 aspirational districts.
The ranking criteria is based on performance indicators and other restrictions build up by the NITI Aayog in the various fields like health and nutrition, agriculture, education and water resources, financial inclusion and skill development and others.
As per the information, the plan of action and project proposals are under way to utilize the finds, as per the provisions of the NITI Aayog and instructions of the programme, said Gurpal Singh Chahal, Deputy Commissioner.
