THREE PERSONS DIED DURING AN UNFORTUNATE INCIDENT AT VILLAGE SHRIHWALA IN GURUHARSAHAI

FEROZEPUR, May 20, 2018: In an unfortunate incident which took place at Village Shrihwala in Guruharsahai sub-division, three persons were buried alive under the soil last night.
As per information available, two labourers Jaswinder Singh and Lakhan Singh were digging a sand pit at Village Shrinwala when the sandpit (old well) suddenly caved in. To save their lives, Harjit Singh alias Sewak Singh, the resident of Village Shrinwala, Sandip Singh and Simarjit Singh, both residents of Village Ali Ke Jhugge went down with the help of a rope.
While the rescue operation was going on, the sand pit caved in again and all of them got trapped in the heaps of sand. The news spread like a wildfire. Officials from the administration reached the spot though the rescue operation was already started by the villagers with the help of JCB machines and tractors. Meanwhile, the rescue team from 29 Battalion of BSF was also called. Three persons died in the incident and the injured were sent to the civil hospital for the treatment.
A grant of Rs. 1 Lakh each was announced for the family of the deceased by the district administration. As immediate relief, Ramvir DC Ferozepur granted an amount of Rs 25000/- to each family which was handed over by Harjit Singh SDM Ferozepur on his behalf today.
