Sukhbir S Badal meets Railways minister, gets assurances for construction of under bridges and a new platform for freight specials in Ferozepur constituency
Muktsar/Fazilka, March 15 – Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal today said union railways minister Ashwini Vaishnaw assured to take due action on all civil works raised in a memorandum submitted to the latter including construction of railway under bridges and a new platform for rice and wheat freight specials between Muktsar and Ballamgarh.
Disclosing this here, the SAD president also issued instructions so that work on all projects hailing in Ferozepur constituency could be taken up for completion.
Mr Sukhbir Badal stressed the need to build two railway under bridges at Talwandi Bhai on the Zira-Talwandi Bhai road and at Abohar-Sri Ganganagar Road Railway crossing. He said at both places there were frequent traffic jams because of closure of the crossings. He said at Abohar the railway passage closed for a record 26 times in a day paralyzing the entire city.
The Ferozepur MP also briefed the union minister that there was an urgent need to construct an underpass on Burra Gujjar road at Sri Muktsar Sahab as a number of schools were situated adjoining it. He said this had created an accident prone area. “Railway authorities have also proposed to construct an underpass at the site but approval for the same is still awaited”, Mr Badal told the minister.
The MP also urged that a new platform be constructed between Ballamgarh and Muktsar to ease pressure from Muktsar station which was clogged by rice and wheat freight specials. He said in this case also the proposal was awaiting sanction of the ministry.
Listing other rail civil works needed in Ferozepur constituency, Mr Badal said there was a demand for opening railway crossings for farmers of village Syeda Wala, Abohar, Fazilka—Crossings C-55 and C-56 which had been closed. He said farmers were inconvenienced as access to their farmlands had been cut off. “In this case also the Fazilka deputy commissioner has verified the details and recommended opening of the crossings”. He also requested the union minister to construct a crossing at village Dangar Khera on Abohar-Fazilka Railway Line to facilitate farmers in crossing over this stretch of railway track with their trolleys and farm equipment.
