Sports Deptt honours veteran couple winning Gold-Bronze medals  in Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan Season-2

Fazilka, October 6, 2023: The veteran couple from Abohar won Gold and Bronze Medals was honoured by the Sports Department for their achievement, while participating in Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan Season-2 – brainchild of Chief Minister, Bhagwant Singh Mann to create sports culture in the state and make Punjab front-ranking in sports, event held at Fazilka.

Under Khedan Waan Punjab Diyan Season-2, the multi-sport event includes competitions in athletics, basketball, badminton, football, gatka, hockey, handball, judo, kickboxing, kabaddi (national and circle style), kho-kho, lawn tennis, netball, powerlifting, shooting, softball, swimming, table tennis, volleyball, weightlifting, and wrestling and this time the event have been held at large scale by the Sports Department by making all adequate arrangements.

Recently took part in Kheda Watan Punjab Diyan Season-2 at Fazilka. While Jaspal Kur won Gold medal in Shot Put and 100m race, Gulshinder Singh won Bronze medal in 100 m race in the age group of 65 Plus onwards.

It is pertinent to mention that Ekta Colony Abohar resident, Gurlshinder Singh Jassal, (72 yrs) and wife Jaspal Kaur (73 yrs) both retired as government teachers participated in Masters Athletics, at Punjab, Haryana state and national level for the last 15 years and have earned so far around 150 gold, silver and bronze medals in the event Discuss Throw, Javelin Throw and Hammer Throw.
