Ferozepur, December 26, 2019: Standard Operating Procedures – SOPs –on how to handle threats of drones/UAV – unmanned aerial vehicles – has been issued by the police headquarters – DGP Intelligence, Punjab, to all Commissioners of Police and SSPs, for taking suitable necessary action for the implementation of the SOPs, to avoid any untoward incident.
Drones are one of the fastest growing threats, posing serious security concerns and drone attacks are dramatically increasing worldwide. A comprehensive SOP have been issued deal with any untoward situation as the same are especially are used near international border for delivering payload of weapons, FICN, contraband etc.
There is no input of drone so far and nothing to be worry and panicky. However, a detailed SOPs has been issued to follow and we are keeping close liaison with the BSF and Indian Air Force. However, during last October, there was a flying activity but it was not sure about the drones. However, special operations were carried out and the entire security force was alerted. We have chalked out a detailed plan and combined operations with BSF are carried out besides we have also specialized force and operations are carried out from time to time, he added.
