Son ill-treats mother, throws her out of house, now moving pillar to post to get justice
Ferozepur, July 7, 2023: It is frustrating when siblings don’t look after the aging parents. Children abandoning parents over property issues and financial disputes is something elders and women’s helplines deal with on a daily basis. But what was reported today by a widow mother before the media was a shocking incident of throwing her out of the house.
One such incident of ill-treatment to mother by her own son, has come on surface where a son locked the house and left for Delhi when his mother had gone for a medical check-up along with the daughter. Now the mother is moving from pillar to post to get justice, as the house in which they were living was already transferred in the name of son by his father who was bank employee, before his death and all cash and valuables are in his custody including the ATM to encash the pension fixed on account of death of her husband.
No doubt, under the Under Section 125 of this Act, a mother who is unable to maintain herself can claim maintenance from her son if he neglects or refuses to provide maintenance. Section 125 of the CrPC provides for the maintenance of wives, children, and parents who are unable to maintain themselves but despite reporting the matter to the local police authorities, no proceedings have been initiated so far.
Narrating her tale with rolling tears on the face, to the media persons at the Press Club, Madhu Aggarwal widow of Naresh Aggarwal of Ferozepur Cantt – who is now residing with her daughter, for the last two months, with whom she has gone for medical treatment – said, an application has been moved to the police for taking action against Avish Aggarwal and his wife Shrutika Aggarwal and arranging the house possession and other articles, back to her, to live a comfortable life. She also levelled charges of mistreatment on the wife of her husband’s brother.
As per the police sources, the matter is still under investigation.
