SHOPKEEPER BOOKED FOR SELLING PIRATED CD’S OF DSS CHIEF MOVIES
Ferozepur, February 19 (Vikramditya Sharma): One person has been arrested for selling the pirated CDs of Dera Sachha Sauda Chief Gurmit Ram Rahim Insan’s debut flick “MSG (The Messenger)” in Ferozepur.
As per the information available, Rajpal, a resident of Ferozepur city was running an electrical shop. Gurjant Singh, SI, Ferozepur City Police station said that the police had received inputs that rajpal is involved in selling the pirated CDs. The SI said that a raid was performed and three pirated CDs of the Movie MSG (The Messenger) were recovered from him. The offender was booked under sections 52/63//63-B, under Copy Right Act 1957 (Amendment Act 1984 and 1994). However, the police officials could not arrest the culprit.
The movie which had a pan-India release on 13th February, had created a stir after a number of agitations were made by radical sikh organizations. Few organizations had even demanded a ban on the movie for which a petition was lodged in the Punjab and Haryana High Court but the High Court had declined the stay on the release of the movie. However, the dera followers in Punjab were quite upset since the movie was banned by the Punjab Government following an advisory from the Centre. The movie was also banned in Haryana where the opposition Indian National Lok Dal had sought a ban on the movie’s release.
