Senior Citizens Forum opposes hike in water and sewerage tariff
Ferozepur, April 7, 2024: The Senior Citizens Forum, feeling the pinch of hiked water supply and sewerage charges, in its monthly meeting expressed concern over the orders by the Municipal Council, whereas it has not been increased in any city of the Punjab.
Pardeep Dhawan, President, of SCF said, the water and sewerage charges were used to Rs.50 per month which has not been increased to Rs.230 per month. Not only, these charges are taken in advance for one quarter, for the services which have not been extended.
He said, Ferozepur being a border town having no industry is a backward city and increasing the water and sewerage charges, say five times, is putting a great burden on the citizens. With the change in government with the majority, the common man had high expectations from the AAP government led by Bhagwant Singh Mann.
Appealing, the SCF President said, the hiked water supply and sewer charges should be revoked immediately so that people may continue to have confidence in the AAP government.
