SBS State University Ferozepur represents at G20 Summit to exhibit research work on ‘Rice Bran Flakes’
Ferozepur, March 16, 2023: A team of Shaheed Bhagat Singh State University, Ferozepur got a niche at G20 Summit – being held at holy city of Amritsar, at Khalsa College with the theme of ‘Promoting Research and Innovations through collaboration”, to be attended by a grouping of the world’s major economies – to exhibit their research work on ‘Rice Bran Flakes’.
Dr Rajiv Arora, Dr Bohar Singh, Associate Professor along with students of B.Tech (Chemical Engg.) were also present in the G20 summit to exhibit their research. Dr. Rajiv Arora has already 30 research papers to his credit and is the recipient of numerous national awards. His innovation ‘Low-Cost Nutrients from ‘Rice Bran’, has been placed among the top 10 innovations of 2017 by ‘Millennium Alliance’.
Stupendous keynote talk on “Highly nutritious products from low-cost Rice Bran ” was lso presented by Dr. Rajiv Arora during his visit to Europe countries during November, 2022. He has already filed the patent for the technology developed for producing low-cost nutrition powder from rice bran. He claimed that nutrients worth Rs.35,000 crore can be produced per year using the waste rice bran In India. He was facilitated by Dr.Elvy Suhana Mohd Ramli from University Keebangsaan Malaysia.
The event host is IIT-Ropar, in phases. In the first phase, the 2nd Education Working Group Meeting will be held between March 15 and 17 and in the second phase, a two-day Labour 20 (L20) meeting would be held on March 19 and 20.
The exhibition was represented by Dr. Rajiv Arora, Associate Professor in Chemical Engineering Department of the University with research of highly nutritious low cost rice bran flakes for the first time in the world.
Dr.Rajiv Arora said, more than 90 exhibitors, including IIM-Amritsar, Punjab Tourism, PAU, Technology Business Incubator, PU, NCERT, National Book Trust, China’s Ministry of Education, UAE’s Ministry of Education, IIT-Mandi, will have their stalls at the College. He said the G20 member countries were engaged in initiatives for promoting the use of digital technologies for ensuring quality learning opportunities for all and for delegates to get a feel of the global scenario of innovations for the betterment of mankind.
Dr.Arora said, the stall on ‘Rice Bran Flakes’ by the researchers of Shaheed Bhagat Singh State University, Ferozepur experienced a great rush, at their stall. The innovator Dr Rajiv Arora, Associate Professor in the Chemical Engineering Department of the University distributed the highly nutritious rice bran flakes during the exhibition. He informed us that these flakes are highly nutritious due to the presence of proteins, vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and fibre in huge quantities. These flakes will be the first of its kind in the whole world. Due to the huge availability of rice bran in India, the export potential of these flakes is tremendous.
Ms Rachna, a visitor in the exhibition informed me that the taste of these flakes is very awesome and it resembles chocolate. Ashok, another visitor wishes that this product must be launched soon in the market.
