Russia-Ukraine War: Anxious parents of stranded Ferozepur students appeal to govt for help
Ferozepur, February 25, 2022: Parents in Ferozepur are worried about the security of their children studying in different universities across Ukraine. The anxious parents are praying for the safety of their children and have appealed to the government for help.
Amid growing tensions due to the Russian-Ukraine conflict, another student – Ruchika Sharma – from Ferozpur has stuck up in Ukraine Medical University with the closure of airspaces for civilian usage and cancellation of all special flights from the country.
Earlier, Sakshi a student of MBBS 4th year student in Ukraine at Kharkiv Medical University has been noticed and the parents are worried over the missile and bomb attack carried out by Russia in Ukraine.
The families of these students back home are extremely worried about the safety of their children and urged the Ministry of External Affairs to take prompt steps to ensure their safe return.
Today, talking to the parents of Ruchika Sharma – father Rakesh Sharma, an agriculturist – with tears in his eyes and mother Kalpana Sharma in a choked tone – said, our daughter Ruchika Sharma had gone to pursue MBBS in 2019, now in the third year, is stuck up in Ukraine due to war.
During a WhatsApp call by Palvi – who is doing PG in Food Nutrition – sister of Ruchika Sharma informed that we approached the local Embassy but advised to wait, after getting our Passport details and I am staying with my friends in the bunker by arranging food for some days.
All family members of Ruchika Sharma have appealed to the Government of India, to make arrangements for safe and early airlifting of students stuck up in Ukraine by arranging special flights through alternate evacuation routes for our citizens as Ukraine has closed its airspace.
Shalinder Kumar founder of a leading NGO, Ferozepur Foundation appealed to the district administration to compile data of local such students by floating the helpline number in the media to take up with the Government of India for safe and early return of students who are pursuing the MBBS courses.
