Ferozepur, May 6, 2015: The Railways have booked Congress leaders and certain unidentified at various stations in the Ferozepur Division for creating obstruction in the operation of rails on May 2 when a call of rail roko was given by Partap Singh Bajwa, President, Punjab State Congress Chief to protest against the deteriorating law and order situation in the state as well as tardy pace of procuring wheat.

A larger number of Congress activists in the state squatted dharna on the rail tracks as a part of their statewide programme of rail roko.

As per the sources, at least 15 trains ran behind schedule in Punjab after Congress workers staged a rail roko in several parts of the state.

Giving this information, Md.Shadan Zeb Khan, Sr.DCS RPF said, the railway authorities have booked the Congress workers in a crime for creating obstruction in the operations of the rail on May 2 at Phagwara, at Gate Section B-69, Gate Section Special 56 (Jalandhar Cantt), Ludhiana-Dhandari Kalan, Kotkapura-Giani Zial Singh Sandhwa, and Amritsar.

The trains stopped were 14506, 15707, 74951, 12912, 11058, 12497, 64523, 54045, 14650 and 18101.

The persons booked under the relevant sections are – Navtej Singh Cheema, Congress President Kapurthala and others, Rajinder Singh, Congress President, Jalandhar and others, Mohinder Singh MC Nahwanshehar and others, Gurpreet Gogi, State President Congress Committee Ludhiana and unidentified, Joginder Singh former Congress MLA, Gurvir Singh, Lakhbant Singh, Dhanjeet Singh and against unidentified persons at Amritsar.

As per the sources, no arrest has been made in any of the case.  However, it could not be confirmed as Sr.DCS RPF was not available over mobile.
