Ferozepur, August 19, 2023: Due to further increase in the water level in the flood affected areas in the district, around 20 villages were engulfed by Sutlej River near the Hussainiwala border. The rescue work is going on war footing in these areas with the help of calling Army, BSF and NDRF and more than 2,000 people have been evacuated and taken to safe places in the last two days by speeding up the relief work. All necessary supplies including food, water and fodder for animals are being provided while social service organizations are also giving great support in this work.
This information was given by Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Dhiman during his visit to Hussainiwala to review the relief work in the villages near the border. MLA Ranbir Bhullar and SSP Deepak Hillori were also with him.
On this occasion MLA Ranbir Singh Bhullar said that taking care of people is the need of the hour and priority as well and in this difficult time, no one will be allowed to face any problem in terms of relief material.
DC Rajesh Dhiman said that it is the duty of the district administration to protect the life and property of the people in the villages adjacent to the Hussainiwala border and take them out to safe places and for this purpose, seven motor boats are working and people are being taken to relief camps and safe places through continuous rescue operations. He said that priority is being given to children, women, patients and the elderly in this work. He said that apart from the relief camps, medical teams have also been deployed at the spot for the flood victims besides making adequate arrangements for the relief material for them and for animals as well.
