“Reflector Caps” to help devotees on “Kavad Yatra” from accidents on roads

Ferozepur, July 2, 2017:  Reflector Caps will help to avoid occurrence of accidents during the night with the devotees on the annual Kavad Yatra of Lord Shiva’s undertaken every year by the devotees during the months of July-August and carry it to Neekanth.  There it is offered to Lord Shiva.

Stating this, Pawan Bhandari, President, Maha Kavad Sangh Punjab said, while this reflector cap will help the devotes from rain and sunshine during the summer days, it will also help to avoid occurrence of any accident with the devotees during the heavy traffic on roads during the night.

He said, the journey of devotees start from Gomukh or Gangotri from where devotees fetch the holy water of Ganges in small pots called Kavad – a pole or bamboo with two water pots tied on either side and carry it towards their destination.  These devotees because of carrying this kavad on their shoulders are called Kavadias.

Since there had been number of accidents on roads in the past resulting in certain deaths, the wearing of reflector caps will give an indication to the vehicle drivers of moving something on the road with the reflection of light on the cap, he added.

Bhandari said, keeping this in view, the insurance scheme for the devotees had also been started besides making a request to the police authorities to intensify the patrolling during the night to steer clear the chances of robbery.

He said, any devotee group before proceeding on kavad journey can have the reflector caps from his office.

Bhandari said, Maha Kavad Sangh will always be at the disposal of devotees in all the districts of Punjab upto Hardawar.
