Railways online celebrate 113th birth anniversary of Harivansh Rai Bachchan

Ferozepur, November 27, 2020:  The birth centenary of the eminent poet the late Dr Harivansh Rai Bachchan – remembered for his immortal creation of 142 verse lyrical poem ‘Madhushala’ – The House of Wine – was celebrated online at Divisional Office on Friday, with inauguration by Rajesh Aggarwal, Divisional Rail Manager along with  Additional Chief Official Language Officer and ADRMs Bhupendra Pratap Singh and Balbir Singh by lighting the lamp and paying homage.

Harivanch Rai Bachchan was an Indian poet of the Navi Kavita literary movement (romantic upsurge) of early 20th century Hindi literature.  November 26 is his 113th birth anniversary.

DRM said that Harivansh Rai Bachchan, who is the father of Megstar Amitabh Bachchan  was a very important litterateur of Hindi literature. He is counted among the most popular poets in Hindi. His most famous work is Madhushala. It is hardly known that  Harivansh Rai Bachchan never consumed liquor by himself, but he associated the liquor with unity and religious harmony in the tavern poem. The magic of the pen is rarely seen, which was very much liked among the youth.  The poem became a craze and was even performed on stage.  Encouraged by this, he wrote original works like Madhushala, Madhubala, Madhukalash. It is on this triology that his fame rests.

DRM called for such an event to be held for creative talent and motivated the audience present to read his works.
On this occasion, deeply praising the poems of Harivansh Rai Bachchan, many officers and officials threw light on his life and his various creations by providing meaningful information to the online audience.
