Punjab Health Department celebrates World Hepatitis Day

Ferozepur, July 28, 2016:  Punjab Health department organized a district level World Hepatitis Day in Dev Samaj College of Women, Ferozepur  today in which Dr. Minakshi Dhingra Epidemiologist, Dr. Yuvraj Narang District Nodal officer Hepatitis C, Dr. Gurmej Raam Goraya Medical Specialist were present.

The doctor’s team in their lectures created awareness among the students and staff on hepatitis disease. They told that Hepatitis C is a disease of Liver which is spread by a virus. Hepatitis A and E diseases are spread through the flies, eating food without washing the hands, the contaminated water and the rotten fruits.

Civil Surgeon Dr. Jai Singh in his address said that Hepatitis B and C spreads due to using the recycled syringes, infected blood, sharing the tooth brush and razors and intercourse with infected partner apart from due to long dialysis from infected mother to the newly born child or the engraving Tattoos.

He told there is free treatment for the hepatitis-C patients under the Mukh Manti Punjab Hepatitis-C Relief Fund in the Civil Hospitals to the resident of Punjab only.

Among others present on this occasion were Dr.Mrs.Madhu Prashar Principal of the Collee, Vikas Kalra, Smt.Maninder Kaur, teaching and non-teaching staff, students and Dr.Rajinder Sharma, Member Managing Committee, Deve Samaj College for Women.
