Ferozepur, January 7, 2021:  On a cold morning on Thursday, Gur Amrit Singh, B.Tech pass-out, stepped out of his house at village Mehma in Ferozepur district and starts his journey on foot to join the farmers’ agitation, who are camping at Delhi borders at the Singhu border near Delhi, against the 3-Farm Laws.  Gur Amrit Singh is son of Nambardar Gurmit Singh of village Mehma near Ferozepur.

Gurmit Singh, Nambardar, father of Gur Amrit Singh said I feel proud that my son is joining the farmers protest at Delhi on foot.

The farmers are protesting at Delhi borders by camping for the last 43 days and have planned Tractor March on January 26 against the 3-Farm Laws.

Singh before starting his journey, Singh paid obeisance at historical gurudwara Saragarhi to see blessing for completion of his mission successfully, when his family members and representatives of Krantikari Kissan Union were also present.

Talking to the media, Singh who had already participated in various marathon events at Muktsar, Delhi, Jammu, and Bathinda said, he will cover daily 100 km from 4 am to 6 pm and hope to reach Delhi by January 11. I will stay on the way in the evening and will start the next morning.   He had also planned to break the national record of virtual running from home for  72 km with National Flag on January 26.

Through his march dedicated to the farmer’s community for their success for the purpose they are fighting, he will remove the blots on the youths of Punjab of a drug addict and Udhta Punjab which the central government tried to portray the Punjabi youth otherwise.

I feel that my march will also give a message to the government to withdraw the anti-farmers laws and extend them their due rights adding that Punjabis will not step back and will fight till the black farm laws are repealed.  He, however, advised the youngsters not to panic and hold the protests peacefully.

Appreciating the gesture, enthusiasm and concern of Gur Amrit Singh towards the farmers, Avtar Singh Mehma, Krantikari Kisan Union leader said, all sections of society have come forward in support of the farmers; the government should reconsider its earlier decision about the laws and take immediate decision to withdraw them as farmers have great contribution in the food bowl of the country.
