PUNJAB GOVERNOR EXHORT SUTDENTS TO FACE CHALLENGES OF OUTSIDE WORLD WITH POSITIVE ATTITUDE
Ferozepur, March 30: Delivering his Convocation address at the 5th Convocation of Shaeed Bhagat Singh State Technical Campus, here today, the Punjab Governor, Prof. Kaptan Singh Solanki said that our Universities have an enormous responsibility for building the Nation through the enrichment of higher education system and it is, therefore, imperative that there is an ideal integration of programmes of teachings, research, work experience and community development to enhance professional competence of our students to enable them to contribute to the nation.
The Governor said that latest research in science and technology has a major role to play to make, Make in India, campaign a big success, for which engineers, technocrats and scientists have to contribute significantly. Describing 21st Century as the century of Science and Technology, Governor said that the programmes like Skill India, Start Up, Make in India and Digital India are the need of the hour for our country.
The Governor also emphasised on the significance of skill development and practical education in our educational institutes. He said digital India could not be imagined without skill India. He exhorted students to face challenges of outside world with positive attitude.
Laudhing the roel of faculty of Shaheed Bhagat Singh State Technical Campus for achieving many awards and certificates of excellence from NBA, NAAC and UGC Prof. Solanki said that these achievements contributes in shaping the carrier of students and promoting the interest of the society and the country at large.
The Governor said that we must utilize all resources available at our disposal to explore and develop the potential of our students by stretching their abilities through innovative programmes. We have a responsibility to ensure that our youth receives a proper education. It is very important to focus on character building and to inculcate amongst the youth, the values of compassion, harmonious living and respect for elders. Our educational institutions, therefore, should be the place where students learn and practice, discipline, tolerance and balanced reasoning he added.
He exhorted the students that in this competitive age, focus should be on enhancing capabilities and confidence to achieve excellence through commitment, vision, determination and face challenges of outside world with positive attitude. He said parents and teachers should mould the minds of the youth and create desire in their mind to also know about spiritual values and inner knowledge along with education.
Mr. Solanki, further said that this campus bears the name of great martyr who sacrificed his life for the freedom of the country. He said we should also inculcate the spirit of patriotism in minds of students along with imparting quality education.
In the last two decades, technology has revolutionized the world around us. Access to information and technology is changing that way we live, communicate work and learn.
Youth are the backbone of new India, which is going to be the next super power. Need of the hour is to sharpen their skill to make the country self reliant in every field. Education is a vital element of empowering the youth. More responsibility lies on teaching community and they should consider education as a mission rather than treating it casually. They have a much bigger role in shaping the destiny of the country shaping the future of the young brains and in forming healthy society.
