Distribution of wheat under National Food Security Act 2013 not possible with 1400 Inspectors to 24,000 Depots in Punjab: Ratinder Singh
Ferozepur, July 15, 2015: The Food & Supplies Inspectors of four districts – Ferozepur, Fazilka and Muktsar – today staged protest outside the DAC complex, led by Ratinder Singh State President, Ved Parkash Secretary and Ankit Batta Ferozepur President, against the wheat distribution policy of Punjab government and threatened to boycott the new policy.
Addressing the protesters, Ankit Batta, District President said, the distribution of wheat under National Food Security Act 2013(NFSA) is not possible and all the Inspectors in the State are protesting against the new policy. It is a disgrace to their status that they should work like Depot Holders, he added.
He said, in Punjab, there are 28,000 depots against the strength of 1400 Inspectors and as to how it is possible for the Inspectors to do this additional job. He declared to totally boycott the new distribution policy and submitted a memorandum to Deputy Director Food & Supplies in the name of Secretary Food to roll back the responsibility of distribution of wheat from the Inspectors..
Present among those from the four districts were Surinder Singh, Gurlal Singh, Rajwant Singh, Sachin Loona, and Monoj Goyal.
