President Multipurpose Coop. Society booked for Rs.18.32 lac fraud

Ferozepur, September 25, 2018: The Gurharsahai police have booked Jaswant Singh son Baldev Singh of village Kahan Singh presently holding the post of President, Multipurpose Cooperative Society, on the complaint of Gagandeep Singh os Harjinder Singh of Jhabela wali Basti in Guruharsahai block for embezzlement of Rs.18,32,208 with the society.

As per the information, Jaswant Singh had been distributing the fertilizer and pesticides at his own to the members without issuing any receipt and collecting the cash. Thus, he has embezzled Rs.18,20,208 of the society.

Sukhchain Singh, IO in the case informed that Jaswant Singh has been booked under Section 406 IPC and the case is still under investigation without any arrest.

The legal provisions regarding Punishment for Criminal Breach of Trust under section 406 of Indian Penal Code, 1860. “Whoever commits criminal breach of trust shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to three years, or with fine, or with both.”
