Ferozepur, March 26, 2024: A police flag march was carried out in Ferozepur  City by senior officials, including Punjab police and paramilitary force jawans, after the announcement of Lok Sabha polls 2024 being held in Punjab on June 1 to instil confidence among the citizens as voters and assure them safety ahead of the Lok Sabha election.

The flag march with the participation of senior police officers in vehicles with red flags, and flickering lights, cops on jeeps and motorcycles was taken out from the District Police headquarters to Udham Singh Chowk to the circular road to Namdev Chowk to Baghi Hospital road to back to headquarter via rail under bridge of Basti Tankan Wali.

More companies of paramilitary forces will be coming to the district in the coming days to maintain law and order.  Besides, vehicles are also being searched to check the movement of anti-social and anti-national elements during elections. Entry and exit points of the city have been sealed and nakas are being laid in various areas.

This initiative aimed to foster a sense of security among residents, ensuring they feel confident to exercise their voting rights freely in an environment conducive to free and fair voting.

SSP Soumya Mishra said the flag marches were conducted to instil a sense of security among people and thwart all the attempts of anti-social elements to disturb the peaceful atmosphere. She said nakabandi and patrolling were being carried out while checking of suspicious vehicles was also underway.
