Police nab 5 drug pushers with heroin, weapon, drug money
Ferozepur, June 26, 2022: The Ferozepur police have launched a ‘clean-up’ drive against narcotics and maintaining law and order. Working swiftly on the tip-off, the Punjab Police in Ferozepur nabbed three drug peddlers in Ferozepur, with recovery of heroin, weapons, drug money, mobiles and motorcycle.
Sources said since smuggling of heroin and other intoxicant substances reduced during the pandemic, synthetic drugs began to be increasingly peddled in the city through the international border.
The three accused arrested from near Madhre village railway crossing, are Sandeep Sippy of Khai Pheme Ki, Gurjit Singh alias Jita of village Khilchi, and Sagar of Saharanpur (UP) by the team constituted under the supervision of SSP Charanjit Singh Sohal of Gurbinder Singh SP(I), Satwinder Singh Virk, DSP along with incharge Sadar police station Gurmit Singh.
As per the report, the police party headed by Sukhchain Singh put up a ‘naka’ as per the inpus on June 25 and banned three drug peddlers and on search, 2.500 kg heroin, 1 country made pistol with 3 magazines and 15 live cartridges of 7.62 mm, Rs.5 lakh drug money, two small computer ‘kands’, three mobiles one bag and one motorcycle bearing number PB-05-AN-9381.
A case under NDPS Act Sections 21/61/85 and Arms Act sections 25/54/59 has been registered at Sadar police station and further investigations are on with Gurmit Singh, IO.
Gurbinder Singh, SP informed that the accused will be produced in the court to get police remand for further investigations and more clues will help in breaking the supply chain.
However, as per the criminal history of the accused, Gurjit Singh alias Jita was wanted in two cases of 2019, in the cases under various Sections 452, 324, 323, 148, 149, 307, 323 of IPC and 25, 27 of Arms Act, Sagar in one case of Guruharsahai under Section 309, 402 IPC and Sandeep alias Sippy in two cases at Sadar police station under Sections 323, 323, 341, 148 and 149 of IPC of 2016 and 2015.
He also informed about the recovery by Narcotic Control Cell under the supervision of Parminder Singh, incharge, has also arrested two drug smugglers – Aman and Rama of Canal Colony – with recovery of 300 gm heroin, Rs.50,000 drug money, one pistol .32 bore, 3 magazine, 3 live cartridges and one motorcycle from near ‘targhar’ crossing. While Aman was wanted in four cases, Raman was in one case under NDPS Act in the cases registered in Ferozepur and Ludhiana.
SSP Charanjit Singh Sohal appreciated the performance of the police team, adding that strict action will be taken against elements plaguing innocent members of society. Protecting the youth from drug consumption is a top priority of the police,” he added.
