Police freeze properties valuing Rs.14.16 cr of 30 drug smugglers in Ferozepur

Ferozepur, November 30, 20223: With the freezing of another property of drug smuggler Jagtar Singh in Ferozepur district at Zira valuing Rs.24,81,900, the total properties worth Rs.14.16 cr has been freezed in 30 cases, under the Anti-Drug Drive by the police, after getting orders from the Competent Authority at Delhi.
Jagtar Singh was booked under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act-1985, in March 2011, on recovery of 105 kg poppy husk, and the accused was punished with ten years rigorous punishment and Rs.1 lac as a fine. He further said, Jagtar Singh is involved in cases of 2011 and 2018 under the NDPS Act.
Sources said the accused smuggled drugs from Pakistan and had purchased these properties using drug money.
Divulging with details, SSP Deepak Hillori said, with the freezing of one more illegal property of drug smuggler Jagtar Singh a resident of Malout in Muktsar district now at Zira in Ferozepur district of the value of Rs.24,81,900 which include 6 marla residential house constructed by illegal means of drug business. He said, during the year 2023, in total 30 cases, the illegal properties of the value of Rs.14,16,66,802 has been freezed under orders from the competent authority and now the accused or any member of their families cannot sale or transfer the same, till further orders.
He said, one drug smugglers’ case for getting freezing orders of their property under the provisions of the NDPS Act has been sent to the Competent Authority in New Delhi and 10 more such cases are in the pipeline and we are working on the same.
