Recovered one illegal weapon with Rs.3 lac extorted money
Ferozepur, December 6, 2022: In a campaign against anti-social elements, a joint operation of Ferozepur and Moga police an extortion module active in both these districts, has been busted with arrest of four members of main conspirator Canada based Arsh Dalla with recovery of one illegal weapon, one magazine, three live cartridges from Balwinder Singh and Rs.3 lac extorted money and while coloured Maruti Zen car bearing No.PB-10M-8590.
The said extortion module was active in Moga and Ferozepur districts in the recent past and made extortion calls with threat and criminal intimidation. They used to extort money by creating a terror on firing and recent crime was committed few days back by threatening to Varinder Kuar Grover of Zira and Rs.4.20 lac was received as extortion money.
Police sources said, working on the leads and on sharing crucial information, all four members of the module, identified as Balwinder Singh of Lalle in Ferozepur, Gurjant Singh of Talwandi Bhai, Gurlal Singh of Feroke and Kamardeep Singh of Barnala, were arrested. The extorted money was kept hidden at the residence of Kamardeep Singh at Barnala. The kingpin of the gang – Arshdeep Singh alias Arsh Dala of village Dala, is based in Canada while Manpreet Singh alias Pita of Buanwala at Manila.
Meanwhile a case has been registered under Sections 386, 506 IPC at Zira police station, The accused will be produced in the court to get police remand for further investigation and more clues of crimes committed and future planned are likely to come on surface.
