Ferozepur, April 21, 2016: Despite making tall claims by the Education Department of Punjab, around 20,000 unemployed PTI teachers are packed in between the between the ‘government policies and circumstances’ and left with no other alternative except to work on daily wages to live on.
Punjab PTI Teachers Union, President Gurlabh Singh and District Fazilka President, Ashok Kumar informed that there are around 20,000 unemployed PTI teachers in the state, out of which only 4,000 are working in the private schools at the meager wages of Rs.2,000 to Rs.4,000 per month and the rest all are still unemployed.
They said, they had earlier decided to return the medals to the Education Minister and later on, after submitting number of representations, memorandums, now they have resorted to work in the mandis as labourer.
It is very unfortunate that during the 9 years tenure of Akali-BJP government, not even a single PTI teacher has been appointed.
Now, when the government is going to advertise 12,000 posts of teachers, the provision for atleast 2,000 PTI teachers must be kept to reduce the number of unemployed PTI teachers, the leaders said.
Jaswant Singh Gill, President, Punjab Education Reforms Committee and Hans Raj, Spokesperson speaking in favour of the unemployed youths said, it’s shame for whole of the Punjab that teacher which produces every class have to work on daily wages and we appeal to the government to immediately issue advertisement for recruitment of PTI teachers.
