On Gandhi Jayanti, BSF organizes Hussaniala Half Marathon-21 km
Ferozepur, October 2, 2020: (Harish Monga): On the occasion of 2nd Oct‟ 2020 (Gandhi Jayanti) a half marathon namely “Hussainiwala Half Marathon (21 Kms)” run was organized by Sector BSF Ferozepur. The motto of this Hussainiwala half marathon was “Run For Mission Swachh Bharat” and also in spirit of “Fit India Movement”. Brig (Retd) Surendra Mehta, DIG SHQ BSF Ferozepur flagged-off the enthusiastic participants from BSF campus at Moga road, Ferozepur Cantt.
About 100 BSF personnel including Officers, Subordinate officers and Jawans took part in the event. The participants of Half Marathon passed through Ferozepur area and finally terminated at JCP Hussainiwala.
Simultaneously, a 7 Kms walkathon was also organised for families of BSF personnel. This event was flagged off 7 Kms short off JCP Hussainiwala on Ferozepur Hussainiwala Road by Smt Nidhi Mehta, president BWWA (BSF WIVES WELFARE ASSOCIATION) of SHQ BSF Ferozepur. BSF families participated in this event with great enthusiasm.
Both the events terminated at JCP Hussainiwala. At JCP Hussainiwala a special programme remembering Rashtrapita Mahatma Gandhi was held.
Firstly, a Swachchata pledge was taken by BSF personnel and their families. Thereafter, medals (bearing logo of „Mission Swachh Bharat‟ & „BSF Emblem‟) and prizes were distributed to the winners by Brig (Retd) Surendra Mehta, DIG.
The team of Sector Head Quarter BSF Ferozepur won overall of Half Marathon trophy. In his concluding speech, DIG BSF Ferozepur motivated the audience to keep the environment clean and to stay fit and healthy. Due Covid 19 protocols were kept in mind during conduct of the event.
These events of Hussainiwala Half Marathon (A RUN FOR MISSION SWACHH BHARAT) and Walkathon by BSF sector Ferozepur were successfully conducted and completed with full fervour and gaiety. This initiative of BSF was appreciated by the local population of Ferozepur.
BSF has previously also organised the Run/walk events twice in September (i.e. first week & fourth week) at each Battalion location (i.e. Amarkot, Khemkaran, KMS Wala, Mamdot & Ferozepur) and all the Border out posts as a part of “FIT INDIA FREEDOM RUN” from 15th Aug to 02nd Oct 2020 under Fit India Movement in BSF.
