Ferozepur, March 17, 2016: The State Government has sanctioned various developmental projects for the city in the past that had been hanging fire for some time to conciliate the BJP during the election year and Railway Under Bridge (RUB) which connects the City and Cantt via Basti Tankan Wali is one of the project at a cost of Rs.10 crore.
Today, Kamal Sharma, Punjab BJP President handing over Rs.7 crore cheque to Divisional Rail Manager, Anuj Parkash – to start the construction for which the drawing work has already been completed – said, the Municipal Council would contribute the rest of the amount.
Added here, that there are only two ways to connect the City and Cantt. One is ROB of British time and reconstructed now, and the other is via Basti Tankan Wali through the railway crossing which is closed most of the time as this crossing comes under the crossing and shunting of all the trains towards on Ferozepur-Ludhiana, Ferozepur-Bhatinda and Ferozepur-Jalanadhar tracks.
Er.DPS Kharbanda, Deputy Commissioner, Ferozepur,Sundeep Singh Garha, SDM, and local BJP leaders, workers, Ashwani Grover, President, MC, Ashwani Mehta, President, Beopar Mandal, Municipal Councilors and citizens were present on this occasion.
Congratulating Kamal Sharma, Punjab BJP on his birthday today, Er.DPS Kharbnda, Deputy Commissioner, Ferozepur said, it is a matter of coincidence that the cheque for the construction of Railway Under Bridge is being handed over to DRM on the day of his birthday today.
Construction of RUB which connects City & Cantt, will be a landmark in the history of Ferozepur, he added.
Kamal Sharma said, prosperity of Ferozepur is also linked with the existence of divisional rail office in Ferozepur and in the coming time, number of projects – PGI Satellite Centre, Government College, Astroturf ground, Meritorious School would be completed.
He said, Ferozepur is not now known with the prefixed word backward as the outsiders have started speaking about the change with the development of mall road, crossings, and traffic lights.
Kamal Sharma Punjab BJP President said, with the construction of RUB, most of the problems will be solved – congestion of traffic and on time reach of students to the schools as people had to wait for more than half an hour even.
Kamal Sharma said, during my recent visit to Delhi on Wednesday, I have discussed with the Railway Minister for change of starting time from Ferozepur as 5 AM for the convenience to the public for Ferozepur-Chandigarh train. Not only this, I have also taken up with the Cultural Minister for setting up of Light and Sound Programme daily for half an hour at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Memorial at Hussainiwala besides 24×7 Jyoti like that at the Samadhi of Mahatma Gandhi.
