NR Vig Deptt undertakes 15 week long special drive zeroing on the menace of unauthorized agents and to check malpractices
Ferozepur, July 6, 2017 : Zeroing on the menace of touts, unauthorized ticketing agencies, unauthorized vendors and to check malpractices in all public interface areas, Northern Railway Vigilance department undertook a 15 week long Special Drive from 10/03/17 to 30/06/17.
Intensive checks were conducted at all major locations over Northern Railway. Stepping up the drive, the Vigilance Teams notched a total of 552 preventive checks & 6 decoy checks during the above period in Mass Contact Areas including checks in PRS centres, booking offices, in trains besides checks on Unauthorized Ticketing Agencies(UTA), Jan Sadharan Ticket Booking Services, Rail Ticket Service Agents. During these checks 51 touts, 168 unauthorized vendors & 6 UTAs were apprehended and prosecuted u/s 144/143 of Railways Act. An amount of Rs. 35.4 Lakh was also recovered as traffic undercharges during these checks.
Northern Railway reiterates its appeal to the general public not to patronize touts and unauthorized ticketing agencies and always purchase tickets from Railway Reservation Centres & Authorised Travel Agents. Similarly, general public are requested not to patronize unauthorized vendors in railway premises, said Neeraj Sharma, Chief Public Relations Officer.
