Now NLJ Detector to check mobile entry in Jail, 256 mobiles found in 6 months from Ferozepur Central Jail

Ferozepur June 29, 2023:  The recovery of mobiles from inside the jail – the most wanted banned item in the jail by the prisoners to remain in contact with the outside world with the family or to misuse while in the jail –  continue to make their way in the jail barracks as with the recent recovery of 3 mobiles from inside the jail and 28 mobiles and 3 SIM cards, in 28 days, the total tally during the last 6 months had gone to 256 despite inflexible measures and now the authorities are planning to take the help of Non-Liner Junction (NLJ) Detector.

The Non-Linear Junction(NLJ)  Detectors quickly detect and locate hidden electronic devices such as SIM cards and cell phones, regardless of whether the electronic target is radiating, hard-wired, or turned off. They are ideal for searching secure areas for hidden or prohibited electronics.

On two different occasions, three mobiles were recovered from the Central Jail and two under-trials and one unidentified person was booked under the Prisons Act.

During the current, 256 mobiles were recovered during the various search operations in the barracks from the prisoners or lying unclaimed or thrown from outside the over the high 30 ft walls. In January 46, February 61, March 55, April 45, May 21 and June 28 mobiles were recovered.

Jail Superintendent said, we keep the criminals which are not needed by the society on punishment or being on trials, to keep them away from the outer world. Our duty is custody, care and correction of the inmates.  We also plan to organise motivational seminars so that when they come out as refined personalities acceptable to the society.  Meanwhile, the patrolling outside the jail has also been intensified. The rush on the road, connecting the Mall road and Bus Stand and high rising building on one side, also poses a threat to the jail in throwing the packets containing the banned items inside the jail.

Randhir Kumar, SP(D) informed that now the help of NLJ Detector is being  taken to detect the electronic devices inside the jail.  The investigations are on for viral of video from inside the jail on the social media, who too were detected with the help of this device.
