AIRF submits 34 point charter of demands
Union appealed to Modi to accept the demands by abjuring the policy of conflict
Ferozepur, April 9, 2015: Today, Northern Railway Men’s Union (NRMU) organized roomy rally led by Shiv Dutt, Divisional President, in front of the office of Divisional Rail Manager to register their protest for bringing the railways completely under foreign direct investment (FDI) besides various other demands.
Addressing the protesters, Shiv Dutt said, the All India Railway Front is agitating against the 34 point charter of demands including the move of the Central government for bringing railways under FDI, complete privatization of railways, new pension policy, merger of 50 per cent DA in the basic pay for allowance purposes, 8 hours duty time, recruitment of wards of employees under VRS Scheme
For achieving the demands of Ferozepur Division, Daljit Singh Divisional Secretary, NRMU in his address in the rally said, the nationwide protest has been organized. He appealed to the Modi Government to accept the demands of the employees by abjuring the policy of conflict.
He informed that the central government has planned to hand over the entire construction and repair work through the FDI to the corporate houses.
The union also demanded to recognize one hospital under private hospital building system besides adequate arrangements of medicines in the railway hospitals besides improving the condition of railway colonies.
Shiv Gopal Mishra, General Secretary giving a warning to the Central government said, the strike in railway is certain in case the ban is not put on the FDI, privatization and new pension scheme by the central government and railway ministry.
He said, the privatization of an important institution like railways is neither in the interest of employees, common man and the country.
He invited the employees to stand united to fight against the anti-employees policies of the government. He also appealed to get ready for the rail strike during the month of November at Hubli as per the decision in the Annual General Meeting of AIRF.
He informed in another roomy rally being held on April 28 by 120 Central Trade Unions and Central employees to be attended by 10 lakh central, state and private sector employees, will announce the nationwide strike.
