Northern Railway holds review meeting with MPs on territorial jurisdiction of Ferozepur Division

RAILWAYFerozepur, February 18, 2016  :  Northern Railway held a meeting today at Railway Club, Delhi, with MPs on the directives of Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu Railway Minister to take first-hand account of people’s problems in each division of the zone.

The meeting was attended by the dignitaries – MPs, Member Lok Sabha, representatives of Ministries, senior management railways and DRM Northern Railway Ferozepur Division, Anuj Parkash.

A power point presentation (PPP) of the various significant initiatives and measures undertaken by Ferozepur Division was made.

Ferozepur Division had marked the year 2015 with significant achievements.  It consists of total 1849.95 route KM and 2390.42 Broad Gauge track KM, which serve 3 States – Punjab, Himachal and J&K.  There are 267 stations and run 749 Mail/Express trains per day and approximately 74 good trains pass through in both the directions.  It consists of total 295 interlocked and 409 non-interlocked level crossings.  There are 189 UTS stations, 25 UTS cum PRS stations, 15 NTES, 14 JTBS, 29 ATM, 40 Retiring Rooms, 13 model, 9 modern, 20 Adarsh and 3 world class stations in Ferozepur Division.  Important freight traffic is fertilizers, cement, tractors, petroleum and foodgrains.  Amritsar and Jammu Tawi, Kashmir Valley, Katra and Kangra Valley are important tourist places which attract people not  from India but from all over the world.  Approximate 2.46 crores passengers are booked per day in the division.

Some of the other notable achievements of Ferozepur Division are hundred percent installation of LED lights of Jalandhar Cantt, Jalandhar City, Firozpur, Ludhiana, Pathankot and Amritsar Stations. Doubling of Jammu Tawi Yard was completed in January 2016.

The dignitaries highlighted specific demands  from the general public with regard to rail development in their regions, the construction of road-over-bridges, limited height subways in lieu of level-crossings, additional stoppages to trains at stations, development of stations, passenger amenities etc and suggested various measures to further improve amenities for passengers.

The Chief Public Relations Officer informed that the railway management made detailed notes of various demands of suggestions and assured that these would be studied on priority and feedback of various studies appraised to the Ministers and MPs.
