More than 1 lakh registration under Captain Smart Connect Scheme in Ferozepur
Ferozepur, December 14, 2016: With the conclusion of ‘Captain Smart Connect Scheme’, a landmark initiative by Captain Amarinder Singh for the youth of Punjab, the youth of Ferozepur has given overwhelming response for the smartphones being promised under the scheme.
Karnveer, a spokesperson of Congress said, the youngsters in Ferozepur have registered themselves in droves, resulting in a total of more than one lakh registrations.
Out of the total registrations done in Ferozepur 61 % was done by males while 39 % was done by females.
Congress workers in Ferozepur made various arrangements to ensure a maximum number of youngsters get to register themselves for this scheme. The registration desks set up by Congress workers and I-PAC ground team across the city ensured a smooth process for registering for the smartphones. The Punjab Congress Express has also been circling around the villages, spreading the message of the scheme to the people and helping them in the registration process where they do not have internet facility.
Launched on 20th November, Captain Smart Connect Scheme was launched with an objective to empower the youth by digitally connecting them with the world, and enabling them to explore opportunities for themselves. The first phase [November 20th-30th] saw 20 Lakh people register for their free smartphones. Overwhelmed by the response, and conceding to the multiple requests from ground, the last date for registrations was extended by 10 more days – till 10th December 2016.
The scheme hit the right target audience in Ferozepur where special registration desks were also set up in villages, markets, colleges as it saw 59% of registered youth were between the age of 18 to 25 year while the other 35% were between the age of 26 to 35 year. About 6% of the people who have registered for this scheme are below or above the age bracket of this scheme. i.e. 18-35 years
