Mobile Phone recovered from Central Jail
April 28, 2018: Another mobile phone has been recovered from an undertrial lodged in Ferozepur central jail. The accused has been identified as Manjit Singh son of Paramjit Singh, a resident of Village Penchanwali in Fazilka district. As per the complaint lodged by the jail superintendent, the mobile phone with battery and a SIM was recovered during routine checking.
A case under sections 52-A, Prisoner Act was registered against the accused at city police station (Case number 90 dated 26.04.2018).
Earlier on April 14, three mobile phones were recovered in two separate cases. In one of these case, a jail employee identified as Sukhpal Singh was booked while in another case a jail inmate identified as Pawan Kumar son of Kashi Ram was booked.
It is pertinent to mention here that notwithstanding strict guidelines, mobile phone continues to make their way in the central jail premises. In 2017 only 105 mobiles were recovered from the central jail. In 2018 also several incidents have taken place where mobile phones were recovered.
