Mayank Foundation observes World Cycle Day, donates cycles

Ferozepur, June 3, 2022:  In joint efforts of the members of the Mayank Foundation (MF), World Cycle Day was observed by donating two cycles to needy persons for their daily use.  MF – a leading NGO in the city, is already involved in various projects, to uplift the downtrodden people in the field of education, creating awareness on road signs, etc.

One of the oldest means of transport, a bicycle continues to be in use throughout the globe.  The simple yet efficient machine helps one to indulge in physical activities in the easiest and most convenient way. From kids to the elderly, cycling offers fun, as well as health benefits for all.

Highlighting these advantages of cycling and promoting the use of bicycles, Deepak Sharma, Foundation MF said, June 3 is observed as World Bicycle Day. The day is aimed at making people more active through simple activities, including cycling. The World Health Organization (WHO) also emphasizes that cycling proves to be an effective way to achieve recommended activity levels.

The event was taken as awareness regarding three important issues – cycling to keep physically fit and second, contributing to making a pollution-free environment and third, and donating to the needy persons for their daily use who can’t even afford to purchase the cycle.

Present on this occasion were Sohan Singh Sodhi, Suraj Mehta, and Harish Kumar, social activists and cyclists besides Vipul Narang, Manoj Gupta, Deepak Narula, and Sunny Sachdeva, Aseem Aggarwal, and Deepak Sharma.

Rakesh Kumar, Secretary, MF informed that the idea to donate the cycles on this symbolic day was conceived by Advocate Rohit Garg and executed by the Mayank Foundation by donating the cycles to Ms. Parveen who works as a maid in the houses, and David a school student. Both thanked the Foundation for this gesture.

Giving a message on this occasion, Sohan Singh Sodhi cyclists said the bicycle is a simple solution to some of the world’s most complicated problems.
