Manipur Violence: Christians community stage protest in Ferozepur

Ferozepur, July 24, 2023: Hundreds of people from Christian community in Ferozepur, today, condemned the assault on women, vandalisation of  churches and human violence in Manipur and registered their protest by blocking the national highway at Octroi Post number 7 in cantonment area leading to Fazilka, Amritsar, Bathinda, Delhi and Chandigarh.

In fact, around two months back, the tribal dispute between Metei and Kuki took an ugly turn to massacre Christians in the state of Manipur.

Later, the Christians heart broken by the incidents in Manipur, led by Vijay Goria and Yakub Bhatti submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner demanding capital punishment to all the culprits who have sexually assaulted Christian women and reconstruction of all the churches that have been destroyed, to establish peace in Manipur besides making adequate arrangements  to prevent repeating of such incidents  so that people of all community in our country lives in peace and prosperity.

They further said, it has been more than two months; the central government, led by Narendra Modi, is silent over the happenings in the Manipur when more than 200 churches have been burnt and over 100 people had become victims of violence in which some of them  lost their fathers,  mothers, and children besides making making homeless to more than 50000 people became homeless.

It is very unfortunate on seeing a viral video of stripping of woman on the road and gang-raping which has shamed the entire humanity and tarnished the image of our country at the global level.

The protesters threatened to continue with their protests and demanded the resignation the resignation of the Chief Minister and  strictest action against the culprits for happenings in Manipur.
