Low admission in colleges, students prefer to crack IELTS
Ferozepur, July 24, 2017: The low admission in the ITIs, polytechnic, degree and professional institutes during the current academic session, has become a cause of concern for the government and private managements as the students are opting to join IELTS – International English Language Testing System – institutes with sole motive to settle on the foreign lands.
A detailed study of search preferences shows Indian students aspiring to study abroad. In view of availability of job opportunities in foreign countries like – Canada, Australia, New Zeeland – simultaneously getting admission in various colleges, the students in the state have preferred to join the IELTs institutes which makes them eligible to get easy visa for study purposes.
Even the skilled institutes like Government Industrial Training Institutes have failed to attract the students in the current academic session, to make India self sufficient in skill development.
Poor response even to the admission in the Engineering Colleges too has become worrisome for the government and private managements for survival of technical education industry. The seriousness of the problem is pragmatic from the data of admission trend, which is around 10-15 percent in ITIs and Polytechnic and less than 50 percent of the last years’ admission in academic and engineering colleges in comparison to the admission during the last year.
Mamta, Plus Two pass-out students said, the reason behind my joining the IELTS institute is to prepare myself for going abroad as those governments welcome international students to stay back in their country on completion of their studies.
Rajan Arora working with one of the IELTS institute said, the students prefer to clear the IELTS test to get study visa in abroad where they get work permit also while studying. Joining IELTs mean, he or she has made up mind to go abroad where they don’t any inhibition to do join the part-time jobs for any even odd job, which the students avoid to do in their own country.
The chances of getting government job after acquiring even higher qualification or professional degrees are very remote as the governments have failed to create jobs for qualified students both technical and non-technical but since the job avenues are open on foreign land, the students prefer to join the IELTS institutes and fly by arranging funds for study purpose, he added.
