KMSC continues protests in villages across Punjab
Ferozepur, October 25, 2020: The farmers continued with the protests in the State in villages on Dushera, over the three farm Bills by burning effigies in the villages to express their resentment.
Earlier, the farmers had announced to burn the effigies in 800 villages in Punjab. The farmers had lifted the sit-in dharna on railway tracks under the rail-roko programme under the banner of Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee and shifted the protests from tracks to platforms to facilitate the movement of essential commodities in and out of Punjab.
With the withdrawal of the movement of goods trains in Punjab by the railways, which was allowed by the farmer outfits for the supply of essential commodities in and outside Punjab, the controversy over the enactment of three farm bills is not likely to be solved.
On the one hand, the railways’ authorities have said that they cannot operate in a restrictive environment whereas, on the other hand, the Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee has announced ‘do or die’ battle for withdrawal of three anti-farmers’ bills by intensifying the agitation.
As per the action programme, the effigies in the protest were burned in the villages of the State to express resentment over the black laws introduced by the Centre government to please the Corporate houses without caring for the interests of the farmer’s community.
Speaking to media persons, Inderjit Singh Bath, District President and others said, we will continue to fight against the draconian laws passed by the Centre government led by PM Modi. The intention of centre to take back the farmers to the slaves’ era in the hands of Corporate houses, would not be tolerated and we will continue our protests till such time the farm laws are not amended having a dialogue with the farmers’ outfits.
Giving a warning to the Modi government and accusing the state government of eye-washing by passing merely the resolutions, they said, the governments should read the writing by the farmers on the wall clearly and act accordingly.
