Kartarpur Corridor : Pilgrims to get passport services at doorstep
Ferozepur, October 30, 2019: In view of rush for applying passport to visit Kartarpur Sahib on 550th birth celebrations of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the Passport Office Amritsar has decided to organize camps at Fazilka and Abohar for receiving passport applications especially from the residents of Fazilka and Abohar, by ensuring a fast-track and accessible mechanism to deliver passport services to pilgrims on top priority.
Divulging with the details, Monish Kapoor, Regional Passport Officer, Amritsar said, there is rush of applying for passport, as compared to the last year, in view of making it mandatory for devotees visiting the Kartarpur Sahib Gurdwara to pay obeisance, where Guru Nanak Dev breathed his last.
Keeping this in view, the Passport authorities have also decided to provide the passport issuing facility at the doorsteps of pilgrims and two camps will be organized on 5th and 6th November, 2019. The one day camp at Fazilka will be held at ITI Malout Road on 5th Nov and at Abohar at DAV College of Education, DAV Campus, Hanumangarh Road, Abohar from 9.30 am to 4.30 pm, where 200 appointments will be given, he add.
He further said, this facility will be available to the residents of India only. The applicants have to fill up online application form available on website www.passportindia.gov.in, deposit fee and take appointments online which will be available from 31.10.2019 onwards.
Kapoor said, the required formalities – checking of documents, photograph – will be completed there and then and our efforts will be to issue the passport at the earliest possible.
