Ferozepur, May 19, 2022:  In all, 8 persons, along with 20-25 unidentified persons have been booked for attack on Punjab State Power Supply Corporation Limited – PSPCL staff, including 2 Junion Engineers, in Ferozepur village Shigaar Gaa in Guruharsahai subdivision of Ferozepur district, as per the crime report released by the police.

The incident took place on Tuesday when a PSPCL team went to the village to recover Rs.2.7 lakh power dues from one Bakshish Singh, as stated in the complaint by Assistant Executive Engineer, Ramesh Kakkar.   It has been alleged that Bakshish Singh along with 20-25 persons attacked the team with sharp-edged weapons, iron rods, sticks and bricks besides illegally detaining them.

The two JEs – Joginder Lal and Ramesh Kumar and two others are under treatment at a hospital, the other team members were discharged after being giving them first aid.

In the meantime, even villagers accused the PSPCL team and claimed three of their men were injured and taken to hospital as well.

SSP Ferozepur Charanjit Singh informed that the booked persons identified are  – Bakshish Singh, Gurmel Singh, Harjit Singh, Jagroop Singh, Gurmej Singh, Jaswinder Singh, Awtar Singh, Santokh Singh and 20-25 unidentified persons – under Section 452, 332, 353, 186, 342, 506, 148 and 149 of IPC – voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty etc., at Lakho Ke Behram Police station on the complaint of Ramesh Makkar, AEE, PSPCL.  Further investigations have been entrusted to Atma Singh, IO.  However, the investigation is going on and action will be taken under the law even if any fault is found by PSPCL team members.
